March 5th update: Fat biking hard and fast when frozen, xc skiing icy and limited due to snow loss
Spring is here, as are fluctuating weather patterns, we may be in the last days of winter recreation at Shaganappi. Green and blue pin-flagged shared fat bike/snowshoe trails are firm and fast (with studded tires) - only a short section of the trail system was unrideable within the Eastern Advance Loop below the driving range. Wednesday March 4th fat bike trails were reported as being loud and crunchy riding when not on grass. XC ski trails: Due to the melt/freeze cycles,

Feb. 17th Conditions Update
Volunteers are getting the course back in shape with the recent snow dump. Because we are starting from scratch again grooming will take more time to complete. Look for track-setting and all fat bike trails to be completed by the weekend. Please note that due to blowing snow many trails remain bare in spots. It is crucial to obey barriers and signage to keep off of treacherous terrain. And don't forget, consider joining SNO as a volunteer and/or as an annual supporter!

January 24th Update: ~7cm of new snow = thin coverage, but skiable on trails that are over turf; help clear tree debris & pack down the snow while out at Shaganappi!
Thankfully, new snow has returned Shaganappi to winter conditions! If you're out at Shaganappi this week, please help SNO volunteers clean up tree debris; take a moment to remove tree branches, etc., from the xc ski trails! Detailed trail reports are below. Beware of glare ice under the new snow which is very slippery and sidehills can be dangerous. Financial support thanks!!! A big shout out of thanks to all who have financially supported SNO so far including this winter'

January 16 Update - Chinook snow depletion, late April spring conditions, snow is gone!
Toques Off xc ski trail from Junction 11 toward Junction 10 January 16, 2026 Sadly, what a difference 11 days make. The extended Chinook temperatures and warm winds have taken the snow away at Shaganappi which is a repeat of a few winters, unfortunately. There is more grass than snow, and mainly only icy patches remain at Shaganappi at the moment. Shaganappi is best described as not skiable. Both xc skiing and fat biking are not recommended. December 15th: Chinook!
Well just like that we are into the first big chinook of the year... After such a wintery start to december, the last two days have hit the trails hard.... a lot of snow has melted (back to snow dances it is I guess). Stay tuned on updated conditions once we can get some up-to-date pictures of the trail system. If you do decide to venture out on the trails, please be mindful of underlying dangers (gravel / rocks / pavement / etc.), as well as leaving ruts in the snow while th
