February 1 update: ski trail grooming is done, Chinook Blast Saturday!

Cross country ski trails: All skate lanes were groomed Tuesday evening thanks to three new grooming volunteers!!! We hope to get to the track setting Wednesday daytime if all goes well...no promises, though! Thanks to the recent snow events, we have good snow coverage on most trails, except where we don't... ;) think under or near trees and the more wind/sun exposed areas have thin coverage over the grass and tree roots. The other exception is the usual suspect: Condo Alley, which has "Marginal Conditions" signs at the top and bottom due to cart path rocks (sharks!) lurking just below the surface beside the trees and at the bottom of the hill.

Shared fat bike & snowshoe trails (FBSS): Trails likely are soft in places from the skiff of new snow received two nights ago....get out before the Chinook hits!

EDIT 08:00h Feb 1: one grooming vollie will head out shortly to Bachler pack and corduroy the Pink, then Brown pin-flagged FBSS system!

Chinook Blast Events: Shaganappi Nordic Operations Club (SNO) is hosting two more Chinook Blast events on Saturdays from 11 to 2 pm on February 4th, and February 11th as part of the city-wide winter festival. Enjoy the SNO trail advice and membership booth, beer tasting with Eighty-Eight Brewing, coffee from Crickle Creek, Big Buns Club cinnamon buns, free Bow Cycle fat bike demos (no demos Feb 4th), free Cycling Co fat bike sessions, and more.... RSVP now to help us determine numbers or feel free to just show up on the day.

Memberships: Grooming and track setting costs money (let alone updating equipment!). Help this non profit reach our goal of 200 members which will help SNO be more financially self-sustaining. Thank you to the 45 paid members and the five people who got memberships since the last grooming update! Consider becoming a member if you haven't had a chance yet. Alternatively, consider a one time donation if that works best for you, corporate donations are definitely welcome too!

SNO Membership bonus: Free fat bike lessons! Join us Saturdays for free fat bike lessons from PMBI Certified instructor Duncan Milne from the Cycling Co January 28, February 4 and 11. RSVP and more info can be found by clicking here.
