March 5: Shaganappi winter trail conditions: quick update

While it's still cold, volunteers have been out packing snow and grooming and track setting on both trail systems since Saturday! Temps are forecasted to be +10 this Saturday, sadly; warm temps start Thursday/Friday.

Taken directly from volunteer Steve's Nordic Pulse update from Tuesday:

All ski trails except for the expert loop have been groomed and trackset Tuesday morning/afternoon. Conditions are overall good although tracks are generally shallow. Be aware of exposed pavement,  at the start of the ski area entrance and at the corners along bow trail.

Edit:  The expert loop was groomed this week by volunteer Barry, despite how it is showing on NP.  There are exposed rocks to be careful of and the snow is thin in some areas due to wind scouring.

Shared Fat Bike and snowshoe trails:

Trails likely are hardening up after being groomed and snowshoe packed Saturday and Sunday. No trail reports have been received Monday or Tuesday.

Green flagged trails:

The whole green flagged trail system was groomed and Bchler packed Saturday by volunteer Brad, with a good portion of the blue flagged trails too.

Blue flagged trails:

What blue flagged trails were not navigable by Brad and the snowmobile Saturday were snowshoe packed by volunteers Jason and Chris Sunday morning.
